After graduating from Bath University with a 2.1 in Business
Administration, Conor Wilson wanted to progress into a career that involved solving problems, dealing with people and networking. Having discounted management consultancy due to the slow progression structure, Conor realised his future career lay in professional selling.
Strong leadership skills
Pareto Law was recommended to Conor by a friend and he was telephone interviewed and subsequently invited to a Pareto Law Assessment Day. This he sailed through with flying colours, impressing the assessors with his strong natural leadership skills. Pareto Law arranged an interview for Conor with Computer Associates, the third largest software manufacturer in the world, which perfectly matched his flexible personality and desire for progression and challenge. Conor joined the company as a Sales Executive in March 2004, with responsibility for accounts in Ireland, the Isle of Man and Liverpool.
Job satisfaction
"I love this role - the best thing about the sales industry is the buzz you get when you make a sale. The hardest part is time management; always ensuring there is enough time to complete all the required administrative tasks at the end of the day.
Invaluable Pareto Law training
"CA provides a great atmosphere; we are all joined at the same time so we know each other well. The training also helped with that as we all took part in the courses together. The Pareto Law training was invaluable to my career development, particularly as I had no previous experience of sales. All the training was hugely relevant to my role, really helping me to settle in and feel comfortable with the whole sales process.
Future Career Plans
"I am enjoying building up my client base in this role at the moment and in the future I hope to progress into field sales. We shall see where I go from there at the time!"
